21 Nov 2014- A Day at the World's Capital, Washington DC

left 120 Sage Commons Way, Cary, North Carolina by taxi to Greyhound bus station in 2210 Capital Boulevard, Releigh to take 3:35 bus to Richmond, VA. taxi ride costed $48. waited for a while boarded the bus which departed 2min early reached Richmond, VA greyhound station around 6AM.

had to kill some time at bus station waiting to take 7:45 bus to Washington DC. bus left 2min after departure time entered Washington DC around 9:20AM. the sight of Potomac river as you enter DC is spectacular. There was a stretch of 2-3km tunnel road was wow. Friday morning traffic I guess hence took sometime reaching Union Station in DC. After I got off the bus around 10AM. I checked big bus day tour options and looked around for pay phone which seems to be rarity these days, called Carl Bergeson who said he's gonna drive through to DC. The plan was to meet up and look around DC as much as I could. The chill cold wind was very hard to get used to- it was freezing cold even though sun was out and very bright.

Started to walk towards Capital hill and took loads of pictures from there of Washington memorial. walk way between Capital Hill and Washington Memorial there were lot of places of importance Botanical Garden, Art Gallery, Space Museum, the pool and after lot of asking, looking around for pay fone - someone helped me to call CB. Met CB on Madison Drive in front of Museum just after noon. Carl got a jerkin n bottle of h2o. For the next 8 hr, Carl was my personal guide of Washington DC for the day ;)

He asked me what my interests and I liked to do? I left it to him, headed to Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington, Vietnam World War 2 Memorial.
went to munch at the famous old Ebbie grill had hot chocolate n chicken pot pie.

went to White house, Atlantic Pacific back to the Lincoln. To one side its Virginia and other its Washington DC of Potomic river. Drive through upper class neighborhood of George town went past good guys final stop over at Capital Hill - night view was awesome. Carl did mention that night view of Washington would be amazing- it was spectacular.

Finally after a great, unforgettable day Carl dropped me off the Union station where I queued up in shivering cold for almost 40 min. I slept the whole journey from DC to Richmond to Raleigh. It's a memorable day which I would remember for the rest of my life.
